The BCCJ's mission is supported by our close working links with the British Embassy and the European Business Council (EBC) as well as an extensive network of trade organisations in Japan and the UK. 


British Embassy Tokyo

The British Embassy in Tokyo, together with the British Consulate-General in Osaka, represents the UK Government in Japan. The two offices work together to promote the full range of British interests in Japan, and also provide consular assistance to British nationals in Japan. The BCCJ has a close working relationship with the British Embassy Tokyo.



In June 2010, the BCCJ and COBCOE (Council of British Chambers in Europe) formed a strategic alliance which provides opportunities for the independent organisations to work together, for the benefit of their respective members. The alliance is aimed at widening cross-market networking, and business-to-business opportunities. The Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe COBCOE represents over 30 British Chambersof Commerce throughout Europe.



The BCCJ is a stakeholder in the European Business Council (EBC) - the trade policy arm of 17 European National Chamber of Commerce and Business Associations in Japan which has been working to improve the trade and investment environment for European companies in Japan since 1972. The EBC was registered with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in 2008 as the European (EU) Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
