Community at the BCCJ
The BCCJ is a committed partner to the local community in Japan.
Working with NPO Bridge for Smile, our Books For Smiles CSR project invites firms of all sizes and across all industry sectors to support the professional development of Japan’s disadvantaged youth by donating books. All proceeds from the sale of second-hand books are used to provide tuition for youngsters leaving welfare facilities in Japan.
And since the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake struck on March 11 2011, we have been actively engaged in a variety of activities to support the recovery of the Tohoku region: disseminating information from Japanese and foreign NPOs, volunteers and survivors; collecting and allocating funds from BCCJ individual and corporate members - both inside and outside of Japan; and establishing the B2B Initiative to support economic revitalisation in the disaster-stricken regions.
We are committed to advancing Diversity and Inclusion at the BCCJ, and this runs through everything we do. Since 2012 have been running a series of D&I events, designed to promote greater understanding of, and develop support mechanisms for, the growth of diverse groups in the workplace in Japan, including women, people with disabilities, the LGBT community and Gen Y. We believe diversity to be vital for the future growth and sustainability of the Japanese economy.
