Diversity Beyond Gender: LGBT
Nov. 26, 2013 12:00 - 14:00
Join us for lunch on November 26, at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, for the fourth in the BCCJ's series of events on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I).
Up until a few years ago, the vast majority of organisations in Japan - including British ones - kept their LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) initiatives 'in the closet'. These days, companies with a true commitment to D&I are increasingly making visible, internally and externally, their efforts to acknowledge and engage people who may be LGBT.
Some companies have identified a corresponding new potential market, and design products and campaigns to appeal to LGBT customers. UK-based organisations in Japan look for creative ways to maintain their global standard for LGBT inclusive policies, and provide initiatives to promote LGBT inclusion in the workplace.
On November 26, four panelists with deep professional knowledge and experience will share some challenges and strategies for the inclusion of LGBT employees in the workplace. They will also talk about leveraging diversity in their hiring and practices, and selling to this potential market in Japan.
