Global Leaders: Rewards for Your Business
Addressing the global leadership gap is an urgent priority for companies expanding their geographic reach. As global companies focus their strategies on developed and emerging markets, it becomes more critical than ever to identify, recruit, develop, and retain intercultural leaders who can successfully navigate the company's opportunities and challenges.
Leading a diverse team or organisation in today’s complex and rapidly-evolving global business environment requires a new approach; companies need culturally competent, inclusive leaders and must equip them with the collaborative skills and competencies that are indispensable for effective global leadership. Innovative companies now recognise the importance of succession planning, and increased awareness of talent development throughout the organisation, not only in HR.
Deploying intercultural senior management teams can provide an organisation with considerable benefits including strategic perspective, competitive advantage, improved communication and cooperation, trend recognition, and business innovation.
Join the BCCJ and three expert panelists for a discussion on cultivating strong global leaders and the immense rewards such leaders bring to an organisation:
- Yuka Shimada, trailblazing Head of HR & Board Director at Unilever Japan and leading light in the field of women’s leadership in Japan. Yuka graduated from Keio University, and holds an M.A in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University Graduate School in NY
- Naoshi Takatsu, Managing Partner for Japan & North East Asia of world-renowned Swiss-based executive business school IMD, with former experience at Recruit and The Boston Consulting Group. Naoshi holds a BA in Political Sciences from Waseda University and an MBA from INSEAD
- Chad Stewart, Associate Director of HR in Asia & Oceania for leading Japanese pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma Inc.
Our panelists will analyse trends in leadership development, and discuss how they may evolve. They will share their personal experiences and expertise as well as talking about the challenges facing their respective organisations and the strategies employed to tackle them.
Moderated by Tove Kinooka of Global Perspectives KK, a consultancy that specializes in developing global human resources. This discussion will explore the topic from three very different angles – that of a British company operating in Japan (Unilever), a Japanese company operating globally (Astellas), and an international executive business school that attracts and develops leaders from diverse industries worldwide.
