Through his Womenomics policy, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been promoting the increased participation of women in the Japanese economy as a pillar of his campaign for economic revitalisation. Despite this, efforts to promote more women to senior roles have still to inspire women to become entrepreneurs. While the number of female entrepreneurs is soaring worldwide, Japan is still trailing behind with a significant gap of entrepreneurship participation between men and women.

Trailblazer Fariza Abidova, however, is leading by example. Abidova, who grew up in the multicultural and multilingual environment of Uzbekistan, and who has considerable knowledge of the cultures of the EU, Middle East, Russia and Asian countries, won a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT) in 2005 to research cross-cultural communication and international relations at Kobe University.

After studying and working for large corporations in Japan, Abidova was inspired by the sense of independence she had gained and felt driven to achieve her dreams of building her own business. With inspiration, determination, and a clear strategy, Abidova managed to launch two start-ups in Japan within six years.

Abidova is the CEO & President of Trusted Corporation, established in 2016, and SOPHYS Corporation, established in 2010. SOPHYS provides business solutions to global Japanese companies regarding cross-cultural awareness, and practical business and communication skills necessary for a global business environment.

Her second company, Trusted Corporation, is currently in the startup phase. It is a membership-based, pre-screened cross-border B2B platform primarily for small and midsize companies of any industry/country. The platform makes it possible to find business partners without middlemen and to reach any company’s decision makers directly. Customers benefit from direct sales leads and interesting collaboration offers from abroad.

Join us to hear about  Abidova's motivational and empowering journey as a foreign, female entrepreneur in Japan and to gain insights into the lessons she learned in building an innovative and successful business.

Launched in 2011, BCCJ Small is GREAT (SiG) events are aimed at creating an open platform for SMEs and entrepreneurs to build networks and leverage success stories in the Japan market.
