Celebrated annually on March 8, International Women's Day highlights the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity in the workplace.

Across the world, British companies and organisations are striving hard to think, act and BE gender inclusive. Initiatives such as He For She, Male Champions of Change and Press for Progress have begun to produce concrete results in the public and private sectors. We are now seeing an increase in the number of women in positions of leadership and on boards, and also the closing of the gender pay gap.

Still there is much to be done.

The 2018 International Women's Day global theme is #PressforProgress. In collaboration with BCCJ member firms committed to the Diversity and Inclusion agenda, we want to take this further.

PledgeforParity: Bridging the Potential, Performance and Pay Gap

On the evening of March 8, at an event organized by the BCCJ in association with the British Embassy Tokyo, and sponsored by Barclays, a distinguished line-up of panelists will share with our audience progress their organisations are making in the area of gender equity – not only in the UK but in Japan, the Asia region, and globally.

Now, more than ever, there's a groundswell to forge on and normalise gender parity. It is incumbent upon us all to make sure that, working in tandem with member firms, and our male champions of change, the BCCJ leads the charge towards more inclusive 21st century workplace that will benefit men and women alike.
