Diversity Drill Down Hackathon
In our 70th anniversary year, the BCCJ is rolling out a series of events and activities, with the purpose of boosting innovation through diversity.
We are hosting our first ever "hackathons" in May 2018.
The hackathon format is designed to promote creative thinking and problem solving, by bringing together BCCJ members as well as invited external stakeholders - including representatives from other Chambers of Commerce, and the Japanese public and private sectors.
Diversity at the BCCJ
Since April 2012, we have been running a Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) programme designed to promote greater understanding of, and develop support mechanisms for, the growth of diverse groups in the workplace in Japan, including:
- People with disabilities
- LGBTQ community
- Generation Y / Millennials
- Marginalised groups
Having advocated for six years that D&I is vital for the future growth and sustainability of the Japanese and global economy, we are now taking the next step.
Pooling our collective wisdom, the goal of this hackathon is to generate D&I ideas that will, in turn, lead to tangible changes in BCCJ member firms across Japan on the road to 2020. Possible outcomes could include the establishment of talent pipelines and initiatives that promote the retention and advancement of minority groups in the workplace, clear statements of D&I commitment in the Japan market, and pledges to create a more family-friendly Society 5.0.
If you are a solution-oriented person with a view on how D&I can contribute to the long-term prosperity of the public and privates sectors, this session is for you.
