On the afternoon of June 14, we will hold an interactive workshop to examine and explore the key issues that are creating stress and uncertainty for BCCJ member firms in 2018.
This is an opportunity to share your concerns with others who are operating in similar situations, and work together to formulate solutions for getting a good night’s sleep.
What will we learn?
The session will be led by Minky Hwang, Country Chief Risk Officer, Japan, from Standard Chartered Bank, and Marcelo Hiratsuka, Head of Market Development Risk at Thomas Reuters Japan. This event will be facilitated by Ben Fouracre, Managing Director and Japan Representative of FTI Consulting.
Topics will include:
- Definition of risk
- External environment for companies in general
- Identification of principal risks for a company – Credit, Market, Operational, Reputational, Conduct, Compliance, etc
- The need to manage operational risk including fraud, technology, etc
- Operational risk management framework and methodology developed in specific industries such as banking

Minky Min Kyung Hwang - Country Chief Risk Officer, Standard Chartered Bank
Minky joined Standard Chartered Bank Korea in 2005 as a Business Planning Manager after a career working in financial markets. She was appointed as Head of Country Operational Risks in 2013, covering business and function units with the bank. Minky has since been working as Country Chief Risk Officer of Japan, appointed in August 2017
Ben Fouracre - Managing Director and Japan Representative of FTI Consulting
Ben has been responsible for assessing market entry strategy and risk exposure for global organizations across a range of industry sectors through the conduct of risk assessments and compliance driven programs. At FTI, he leads the conduct of complex investigate assignments involving fraud and corruption, business intelligence and due diligence investigations, crisis response and management, brand integrity and risk consulting services.
Marcelo Hiratsuka - Market Department Risk Officer, Thomson Reuters
Marcelo works as Head of Market Development Risk at Thomas Reuters Japan. He advises on trends, opportunities and future development to a number of high-profile clients on a range of risk-focused concerns.
