Inside My Company: ARUP

April 10, 2019 12:00 - 14:00

Inside My Company

  • Online bookings are closed for this event.

Having operated in Japan for more than 25 years, Arup is still one of the country's few foreign-registered engineering consultants, providing multidisciplinary services to inbound and outbound clients.

In October 2018, the London-headquartered Arup set up a rail business in their Iidabashi offices. Led by Alberto Battois, the new division is responding to the Japanese government's significant investments in rail infrastructure throughout Asia and the world.

The nation, of course, has an incredible wealth of experience to share. Managing more than thirteen billion passenger journeys each year, Japan's trains are famous for their punctuality, efficiency and service levels. Uncompromising attention to detail and quality in the development of rail technology, and an unwavering commitment to safety in operation by all staff involved, mean that Japan's rail operators have the potential to set and raise global standards.

So, what could the UK teach Japan about trains?

You are invited to participate in an Inside My Company lunch session on April 10, to hear how Alberto's team at Arup in Japan is engaging with Japanese rail operators, engineers, contractors and suppliers on cross-border opportunities and, in the process, is supporting traditionally domesitc teams to develop a more global mindset. It's a unique story and business case, inspired by UK-Japan knowledge-sharing, and we hope you can join us.
