Guests attend inaugral BCCJ Community Hub night powered by PechaKucha

Oct. 10, 2014

60 guests joined our inaugural BCCJ Community Hub event, powered by PechaKucha, at SuperDeluxe, Nishi Azabu, Tokyo, last night.

Speakers from seven NPOs in the BCCJ's eco-system shared updates from their organizations using PechaKucha's snappy and engaging "20x20" (20 slides, 20 seconds per slide) format.

Guests enjoyed and were moved by stories from RIJ (Jane Best OBE), Bridge for Smiles (Keiko Hayashi), TELL (Ian de Stains OBE), OGA for Aid (Angela Ortiz), Lighthouse (Aiki Segawa), WaterAid (Kaoru Takahashi), F-World (Ryo Ichiji). Speakers used photos to illustrate their respective missions and explain why could benefit from volunteer support and donations.

They also had a chance to meet with the NPOs in 'beer break' networking sessions and connect with fellow BCCJ members and guests.

The evening was opened by Mark Dytham, co-founder of PechaKucha, who later invited all presenters to speak again at one of PechaKucha's monthly events, which regularly attract crowds of up to 300: 'this has been one of the best PechaKucha events, if not THE best event, we have ever had the pleasure to host'.

The BCCJ would like to thank everyone who supported our first Community Hub evening, which we hope can grow in size and impact going forward.
