2014 BBA Winner Profile: Rhino Rugby (New Market Entrant)

The seventh British Business Awards were held on 14th November, 2014 at the Hilton Tokyo. Rhino Rugby Japan took home the award for New Market Entrant. The award was new for 2014 and was open to companies who entered the Japanese market after January 2013.
Rhino Rugby Japan's philosophy is to aim for the top, an approach which has seen them become an official supplier of contact and training equipment to the Japan RFU. They believe in achieving technical excellence to allow them to punch above their weight and secure contracts with the biggest names.
After being based for over 25 years in Devon, Rhino was subject to a management buy in in 2006 and is its head office is now located in Chiswick, West London. It's Japan arm is based in Osaka.
The judges were impressed by the successes they have already achieved and also admired the company's ambition to maximise opportunities from 2019 Rugby World Cup. This includes eventually manufacturing products locally and plans to seek local partners to build on their current success.
Rhino Rugby believe their success can inspire other small UK companies to explore the Japanese market.
