A Magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred in Hokkaido on 6 September 2018

At 3.12am local time on 6 September 2018, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred in Hokkaido, northern Japan. Transportation throughout the island has been disrupted, including the airport. If you’re in Hokkaido, or are planning to travel to the area, please be careful of aftershocks, follow the advice of the local authorities, follow local news, and check with transportation companies for any changes or cancellations of schedule. Evacuation centres with English language support are Waku Waku Holiday Hall (Central district, Kita 1 jo Nishi 1 Chuo-ku Sapporo Hokkaido, 060-0001) and Odori High School (11 Chome Kita 2 Jonishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0002).
